About

Origamiyama is an origami diagram book that happens to live online. The name folds two words together: origami, and yama-ori — the mountain fold, the crease that rises toward you like a ridge.

What you will find here

Fold-by-fold tutorials drawn the way diagram books draw them, with dashed valley lines, dash-dot mountain lines and arrows that show where the paper goes. Guides to the folds, the bases and the paper itself. Idea lists for birthdays, classrooms and holidays. And the part most sites skip: what the models mean — why cranes carry wishes, why frogs come home with your money, and why a thousand folded birds add up to one promise.

How the tutorials work

Every tutorial starts with the paper you need, walks the model in numbered stages, and marks each crease with standard origami notation. If a step is hard, the diagram says so and tells you what the paper should look like before you move on. Complex designer models are credited to their creators and linked to the designer’s own instructions; we only diagram traditional models and our own simple designs.

Who makes it

A small team of paper folders and one very patient editor. Questions, corrections and model requests are welcome at admin@origamiyama.com.
